Established in 1979, Friargate Alterations is a longstanding alterations shop that has been servicing Derby for the past 40 years. We’re a dedicated team of seamstresses that cover a wide range of sewing, repair and alteration skills for casual wear and tailoring as well as specialising in formal and bridal wear.

We pride ourselves on being friendly familiar faces on the high street of Derby.

Friargate Alterations was first established by local seamstress Julie Manning, who ran the business up until 2023.

Friargate Alterations is now owned by Leren Connor, who first started working here as a part time seamstress back in 2016, after working and further developing her skills as a seamstress, Leren took over the business in 2023.

Graduating from Derby University in 2014 with a Degree in fashion, Leren has always worked in fashion, from menswear, tailoring, buying and designing.
